The Organisation

West Country Embroiderers covers the counties of Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.  It was begun in 1973 to promote and encourage embroidery for all. Today the group encourages all textiles and needlecraft. There are many autonomous groups around the South West with around 600 members. Each group has its own committee and programme of events.

There is a central Executive Committee, with Jan Tillett as President, which meets three times a year. This committee oversees the whole organisation and produces two newsletters a year.  There are exhibitions throughout the year and residential courses for members held in February or March and October or November at the Kingcombe Centre in Toller Pororum, Dorchester and Treloyan Manor in St Ives.
